No, you shouldn’t. It’s best kept in a dark place like a pantry or cupboard so that it stays cool without getting too cold.

Despite this, CBD oil is incredibly safe and risk-free, meaning if there is a chance it can help with your condition or ailment, especially if you’ve struggled for a long time, it’s almost always worth trying.

In order to make sure the CBD you’re using is as safe as it can be, look out for high quality, natural products that:

  • Don’t use any pesticides, fungicides or other nasty chemicals
  • Are completely free of GMO
  • Are lab tested to a high standard

Any brand that doesn’t mention its stance in regards to being organic, pure and well vetted is probably not something you want to put in your body.

How Much CBD Oil Should I Take?

Many brands on the internet often recommend standardised doses, such as “take one drop of CBD oil under the tongue per day” or “eat two CBD gummies per day”.

But it’s actually impossible to give a “one size fits all” CBD oil dose in that way for the following reasons:

  • There are no regulations regarding how much cannabidiol a CBD product needs to contain, meaning the concentration of different products varies wildly
  • CBD is used to help treat several different conditions, all of which require different doses
  • Our endocannabinoid system receptors differ and so the amount two people need to take in order to absorb the same amount can be completely different, even if those people are the same size and weight

For example, we offer full spectrum, lab tested CBD oil with 3mg of CBD per serving.

Other brands offer CBD oil that doesn’t contain any other cannabinoids at all, and many contain 1mg of CBD per serving or less. As a result, one drop of our product could easily be equivalent to 3-4 of another.

But with all these variables, how are you supposed to know how much CBD oil to take?

The most effective ways to figure out the best CBD dose for you is to start small and gradually increase your dose until you find the best effects.

The reason for this is that what works for one person may not work for another, even if they are both the same weight and trying to treat the same condition.

Regardless of all that, a good general CBD dose to aim for is around 1-5mg per 5kg of bodyweight.

So, for example, if you weigh 70kg, you might want to start at around 14mg per day, increasing by 1-3mg daily until you find the sweet spot.

The simple reason for this is that what works for one person may not work for another.

There are CBD dosage calculators out there which will give you a relatively accurate starting point based on your answers to certain questions, but even they can’t be more accurate than testing doses for yourself and figuring out what works best – there are just too many variables.

How Should I Take CBD Oil Tincture?

CBD oil drops or tinctures is one of the most popular and easy ways to take CBD.

This is because it’s the easiest way to keep track of how much CBD you have taken.

It is also the method that provides the second highest level of CBD bioavailability, after vaping.

Since most e-liquids contain CBD alone and not the other cannabinoids, taking CBD oil is thought to give the quickest, and most thorough benefits.

But how should you take CBD drops?

The best way is simply to let the drop sit under your tongue for 1-2 minutes before swallowing. This is because CBD gets absorbed directly into the bloodstream from under the tongue more quickly than it does via the stomach.

Most good CBD formulas should tell you exactly how much each drop contains (ours is 3mg per serving).

This is worth noting because any product that doesn’t do this is potentially trying to hide a low amount of CBD content.

Luckily, if you’re stuck with one of these products, it should be easy enough to work out how much CBD is in each drop once you realise that the average dropper size is 1ml.

This means you can just divide the total CBD content of the bottle by the total number of ml the bottle holds, to work out how much CBD is in each drop.


How Can I Vape CBD Oil?

CBD is often vaporised to help with sleep and relaxation, or as a quit smoking aid as opposed to treating a specific ailment.

If you are considering vaping CBD for this reason, you may prefer to simply figure out your own ideal daily dose.

However, if you do wish to keep track of your dose and improve it over time, you can start by measuring how much CBD is in each dropper, just like we discussed above regarding CBD drops.

Once you know this, it’s easy to work out how much CBD each tank contains, which makes it easy to keep track of how much you’re vaping each day simply by taking note of how often you refill the tank.

This is something you’ll want to monitor over time, as it’s easy to treat vaping CBD as a regular habit like smoking and forget that you are primarily doing it for the health benefits.

Luckily, since there is no risk of overdose with CBD, using too much could be a waste of money and no longer be as beneficial, but little else is likely to come of it.

This is a common question because it’s easy to take a single dose and not notice any immediate difference, then come to the conclusion that CBD isn’t helpful.

Since CBD is a wellness supplement that promotes homeostasis and not a medication, you shouldn’t expect an immediate improvement.

With that said, a lot of people claim they do experience rapid effects, so once again this seems to be something that varies from person to person depending on their endocannabinoid systems.

We also regularly get asked this question in regards to a specific complaint, for example “how long does it take for CBD oil to work for pain?”.

Since chronic pain can stem from so many different causes, this is impossible to answer accurately.

If you are attempting to take CBD oil to help reduce a specific complaint, such as insomnia, pain, inflammation or anxiety, we would recommend taking CBD every day for 2 weeks in the first instance.

During this time, take note of your symptoms, giving them a score out of 10 for severity every single day.

At the end of the two weeks, you may well find you have noticed a significant improvement, in which case you should of course continue using CBD oil.

But if your improvement feels minor or you are unsure if there is any improvement at all, you can try ceasing to take CBD and recording the severity of your symptoms for another 2 weeks.

This can make the difference more obvious, and if you experienced worse symptoms when you stopped taking CBD oil, you can also take this is a reason to continue.
